The Ares family of spotting scopes was designed with advanced optical quality and ease of use at the top of the list. When you're trying to collect that trophy of a lifetime, your spotting scope is one thing you don’t have to worry about!
The Ares 15-45 family of spotting scopes was designed with advanced optical quality and ease of use in mind. Offering bright, razor-sharp imagery and a rugged, weatherproof design, the Ares 15-45 is ready for any condition. The interchangeable eyepiece allows you to swap the standard variable power eyepiece with a fixed 22 power eyepiece (sold separately) with a MIL ranging reticle in it for your long range shooting/tactical application.
The Ares G2 UDH has extra-low dispersion glass lenses for color resolution and contrast, our AFMC (advance fully multi-coatings), and features BaK4 prisms with the new ESP dielectric coating.
Filled with Argon gas, the tough full metal chassis is fog proof, better thermal stability and is waterproof. The lenses are then treated externally with our XPL coating to withstand dirt, oil, and grime of constant use. Choose from three different models – each distinctly different in size so you have a scope tailor-made for your specific activity.
Eyepiece angle: 45 degrees

UHD Glass - Gives you an advantage with an image that has little or no chromatic fringe for the clearest and sharpest image.
Waterproof: Regardless of how heavy the rain is coming down or an accidental drop in the water, this sealed and gas-purged optic will remain waterproof.
Fog Proof: Argon gas has a low thermal conductivity compared to nitrogen gas, resulting in better fog proof capabilities.
Apochromatic Lens System: Helps in converging refracting colors into one focus point, producing greater contrast, sharpness, and color definition.
Fully multi-coated lenses: Advanced Fully Multi-Coated lenses provide better light transmission with optimum brightness and true color across the entire spectrum.
XPL Coating: Extra protection on the exterior lenses to prevent the scope from enduring dirt, oil and potential scratches.
In March, 2020 I bought the Ares 15-45 x 65 ED , as part of my guiding equipment. I decided to go with this model because of compact size and close focus(very useful in the tropical forest since animals can be very close to you). Since COVID, I was not able to try it with costumers. I did used for bird watching in Costa Rica and I think is an excellent option for someone in a budget. Very sharp image, even at 45x. I love the eye piece and objective cover. I also got a Phone Skope and they work great together. Something to consider is that the rubber armor that protects the scope started to break(open) and I had to send it back to warranty. I understand that this year things are very different but I had to wait 2 month to get a new unid. I did not like that they called me to talk about the scope(I personally rather email, more formal). I got this new version last week (Ares G2 UHD 15-45_65 45 Degree) and I really like. I hope to use it more to have a more reliable feedback on this new model.
Been using this Spotter for over a year now for hunting, shooting and digiscope. Was really concerned about spending $1K on a spotter (my price point) but was blown away at the performance of this scope and would do it again in a heartbeat. The &700.00 price point competes with &1K scopes for sure. I spend over 70 days a year in the field and was looking for a high quality scope for a reasonable price (I think us hunters are always looking for the best bang for the buck). The glass is exceptional in this scope. I have owned two other scopes in the $300.00 range, one of which is a 60x scope and the Athlon 45x is a much more crisp, clear and focused scope than any of the other two I own. I was blown away at how this 45X power scope could outperform a 60x scope (you truly get what you pay for). I am a believer in HD glass! The size is perfect for the backpack hunter. It's compact and takes up less room in a pack than a 60x scope for sure. This is a very high quality scope and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a compact, high quality scope. I have not had the opportunity to test the warranty and hope I never have to but Athlon's warranty is complete peace of mind. Do your homework if you're are in the market for a compact scope in the $1k price range. This scope is the ticket!
